More Cash For The state of utah & Other Mountain-Area Startups: Start Increases $26M Second Fund

Kickstart-logo Start Seeds Fund (not to be puzzled with crowdfunding massive Kickstarter), has brought up $26 thousand for a second fund to spend money on Utah-based start-ups, along with others in the “Mountain West” area of the U.S. Since its release in 2008, with a $8 thousand fund brought up by Handling Home Gavin Christensen, Start has invested in 24 organizations, such as two leaves with Panoptic Protection in Nov of 2012 and GroSocial in Jan of 2013.

Today, the company maintains investment strategies in a number of start-ups such as Hook (our coverage), Ecoscraps, Fuze System (our coverage), and Dropshipping Business, among others.

Kickstart is also including to its control group, with two new employs which see vSpring/ Indication Optimum Former Home of Fund, Alex Soffe, known as Start CFO, while former Skullcandy VP of International Business Growth, Clarke Miyasaki, now connects Start as Handling Associate, together with Christensen.

While at Skullcandy, Miyasaki assisted handle relationships between the company and high-profile titles and manufacturers, such as the NBA, Jay-Z’s Roc Country, Kate Upton, Dell Computer, Significant Group Football, and assisted with the Astro Game playing purchase. Miyasaki also stayed at Logoworks then HP, and proved helpful as an affiliate at vSpring Investment, which is how he and Christensen met.

But the fund is not linked with one particular straight – instead, the group is enthusiastic about “strong technological innovation supported by ip as long as it has a obvious, capital-efficient direction to promote,” but is “technology sector-agnostic.”

Kickstart, which is supported by local VCs, angel categories, organizations and colleges, was recognized “to complete both the main city and authority gap at the seed level here,” says Christensen, “and our results show that it’s working.”
